Folded Wing account manager Jim Lister shares a recent inspiration:
“If you missed BBC4′s ‘Word Up! Black American Pop at the BBC’ last Friday night… make sure you catch it on the iPlayer this week… ESSENTIAL VIEWING!
Amazing performance after amazing performance from Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, Chaka Khan, Cameo… and my personal favourite, the queen of style and class that is Grace Jones at the peak of her powers singing the killer ‘Slave To The Rhythm’ (as performed on Wogan in 1985!).
CHECK THE OUTFIT!!! And make sure you keep watching all the way til the end…Can’t wait for the Prince doc on BBC4 this coming Friday!”
Watched the programme last Friday, and was sad to find out about the death of another vocalist from the same era, that being Daryl Pandy.
The only man to incorporate “lying on the floor” into a Top Of The Pops performance?
